Someone has to count your words to sell them to you. We don’t.

Translation plugins usually resell you the translation with a margin, so they have to meter it: credits, word pools, plan limits. OctoLangWP resells nothing. Your server talks to your own translation engine, and we don’t even know how many words you translated.

About €7 a month for everything

Instead of $30–60 a month for translation alone. Less than the cheapest hosting this shop runs on.

20,000 words is an estimate for a typical small shop; count your own catalogue before comparing. On a bigger site the proportions hold: the licence is fixed, and you pay for text once, at your provider’s prices, with no margin from us.

Why this plugin exists

I built it because translation was eating my shop’s budget

I ran a small WooCommerce shop. Forty products, just starting, every cent counted. Translation alone cost me $30–60 a month, before the plugin licence. Every new language was another surcharge. Every new product pushed me closer to the next plan.

For a big company that’s small change. For a startup it’s an instalment that grows with every other one: hosting, payments, shipping, ads. At some point translating the site cost more than running it.

The market offered two options, and both hurt. Weglot: switch it on and it works, but they keep your translations and you pay every month for as long as you want your site in German. WPML: everything is yours, in your database, but setup is a project of its own, the database swells with copies of posts, and automatic translation still counts credits.

I wanted the speed of the first and the ownership of the second, without either one’s bill. That’s how OctoLangWP started.

Who it’s not for

Moving from WPML or Weglot?

There’s no content to migrate, because we keep no separate posts. Install, pick your languages, switch the old plugin off. On Agency we help you keep your URLs and rankings.
